Background Information About The Schmooze Radio Talk Show

Separating fact from fiction and bubbemaasehs from the bottom line!

The Schmooze Radio show is a weekly Jewish radio show hosted by Rabbi Dovid Vigler of Chabad of Palm Beach Gardens. The show airs each Sunday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 am on Seaview Radio and is broadcast on 95.9FM and 106.9FM as well as 960AM.

The Schmooze deals with contemporary Jewish issues, Jewish laws and customs, Israel and the Jewish views on the news. Interesting guests are often interviewed on the show including politicians and successful business people. Some recent guests have been Mr. Sid Dinerstein, Chairman of the GOP of Palm Beach County; the Rabbi in Haiti days after the earthquake; the Interim Rabbi of the Chabad House in Mumbai after the terrorist attack in November 2008; George Salton, a resident of Palm Beach Gardens,  a Holocaust survivor who was part of the team who went on to invent the GPS; and Rabbi Chaim Hillel Azimov of Kyrenia in Northern Cyprus, Turkish occupied territory called in to the show to discuss the feelings of the Turkish Jewish Community during the recent Gaza flotilla crisis among many others.

The radio show was born out of a desire to reach the vast majority of Jews in Palm Beach County who are unaffiliated, roughly eighty percent of the population! In a warm and unintimidating manner, these Jews are able to listen and participate in Jewish affairs and discussions. From the very first show in the summer of 2009, the show has been interactive, receiving calls from our listeners. Surprisingly, roughly half the callers are not Jewish! The show was the brainchild of Harry Kaufman, a businessman who serves on the Board of the International Reform Judaism, who now serves as the Vice President of Marketing and Executive Producer for the show.

The Schmooze reaches listeners from Boca Raton to Port St. Lucie.  People call in with their questions and comments which are discussed live on air. We also have many listeners who tune in from around the country to listen on

Since Seaview radio plays music through out the day from the 50’s and 60’s, it attracts listeners 45 and older. Advertising on the Schmooze is a sure way to reach an audience which is both Jewish and over 45 (though a significant amount of our callers are not Jewish and are of all ages!).

Starting in May 2010, the popular show has been syndicated in Johannesburg, South Africa, where it has been placed at the primetime lunch hour spot on Thursdays on the country’s only Jewish Radio Station, 101.9 ChaiFM and .

The Show’s producers and Seaview Radio owners are working diligently on getting the show syndicated throughout the United States.

As of October 2011, The Show evolved into a dialogue called ‘The Rabbi and the CEO’ with the introduction of co-host Mitch Zachary, CEO of Fuoco Group. Mitch adds a down to earth flavor and business persective that complements the spiritual perspective of the rabbi on current affairs and Jewisdh traditions.
